Welcome. I'm a novelist and a journalist.
I was at the New York Times for several years; I continue to write for the Times and other publications, about courts, crimes and business. My stories range from a profile of an aging Mafioso; to how the parole system is now allowing defendants to maintain innocence; to the “Jane Crow” system that separates mothers from their children over childcare issues; getting separated to investigations into defendants accused of terrorism, fraud, political corruption, murder and racketeering. I've written a number of stories on wrongful convictions, including a New Yorker feature on a 1995 case that helped prompt the retrial and exoneration of the defendant, who had been imprisoned for more than 20 years. My journalism awards including the Loeb Award in the investigative-reporting category.
My first novel, Everybody Rise, was an instant New York Times bestseller and a New York Times Book Review Editors' Choice. Fox 2000 bought movie rights, with the producer of Devil Wears Prada and Twilight producing. I’m currently writing my second novel.
Am I Stormy Daniels? No.
